No toys for Brex - yeah right!

My plan was to let Brex play with our old cell phones, tennis balls and other misc. things around the house, rather than spending a bunch of money on toys. Well, we haven't purchased one toy and still our condo literally looks like a daycare center.  Pretty soon Mike and I are going to have to take turns playing in the living room with Brex because there is barely room for the 3 of us. I have to admit, it's pretty fun to watch Brex bounce in this huge jump-a-roo, on loan from the McGraths...

Pure fascination...

Can't help looking in the mirror when you're this cute!

Brex proved he is not just a one trick pony.  After spending some time admiring his gorgeous face in the mirror, he rolled over the other way...

Nap time

This is not the way I placed Brex into the crib, certainly not with his foot sticking out the side.  He is always squirming and never in the same position when he wakes up from a nap.

If Brex had his way, this is would be the position he would sleep in all the time

Thankfully, Brex can sleep pretty much anywhere.  Here he's catching a snooze while we're over the McGraths for a visit

This cannot be comfortable...

When he is hungry, Brex doesn't care what akward position he's in.  As long as the milk keeps flowing, he's happy!

Brex is 3 months old and mommy is back to work

Three has always been my lucky number but Brex turning 3 months old was bitter sweet for me. I can’t believe he is a quarter of a year old and already time for me to go back to work. After an excruciating search, we did find a wonderful nanny. People say “you’ll know when you know” and when we met Lilliana, we knew she was the right person to take care of Brex while we are off building his college fund. She is from Costa Rica (one of our most favorite vacation spots) and she has already started teaching him to speak Spanish!

Brex ROLLS OVER!!!

We already knew Brex was a strong baby, but this week he proved it again by rolling over. This celebratory event took place more than a month ahead of the baby milestone chart, which shows “typical/ordinary/regular” babies rolling at 4 months! Not our little boy, he is gifted! All of those 5-10 minute intervals of tummy time that we so diligently work on (every single day) have paid off! He performed the rollover for the 1st time a few days ago but of course, we didn't catch it on video. Missed the 2nd one too, but the 3rd time was a charm!

SMILE!

Smiles and laughter all day long...

Brex is starting to laugh and it seems as if he enjoys getting a reaction out of mommy & daddy.  It is SO cute!

Sharing

He had no clue what was going on, but it was funny to watch Sarah share her 3D glasses with Brex...

Brex meets the Davies

We were so happy to see the Davies Family and very excited to introduce Brex to some of our dearest friends. We love having our favorite Aussies in the USA for a few years and cannot wait to take Brex to Australia to have some fun in their beautiful country.

Why we swaddle

Brex is always on the move, even when he's sleeping.  His legs go a mile a minute and he startles himself awake all the time.  He has been swaddled every night since birth but we are starting to branch out and let him take naps without the swaddle.

The mirror is so much fun

We have started spending about an hour a day looking at the cute baby in the mirror.  Brex studies his face, smiles and coos at the baby in there and is even starting to recognize mommy & daddy's reflection.

Brex's Doctor Appt.

Brex had his 10 week check up this week. We were happy to find out that he is as healthy as he is happy and he moved up from the 50% to the 60th percentile in measurements.
He had to have 3 shots as part of his vaccine schedule, but he was a very good boy.  He cried a little bit during the shots and continued to milk it for a few hours after so mommy would give him extra snuggle time.  He punished me by looking away from the camera every time I tried to get his photo with the band-aids...

Since boys don't typically mind this subject as much as little girls, I will share that he has been diagnosed as an "infrequent pooper".  That doesn't stop him from smiling from ear to ear on a daily basis, farting up a storm or from giving us a big surprise like this every once in a while:
